We’re All Stakeholders in Ending Gun Violence

Given the ongoing gun violence and mass shootings of so many innocent people, it is time we address this growing threat to our democracy. Our collective pain over this tragedy is palpable. My own children and grandchildren live within a half hour of Gilroy, CA.

My 23-year career in the Marine Corps included training others in the use of firearms and I support the rights of citizens who hunt and keep guns for self-defense.

Nevertheless, I believe we must set aside the BS. There is no justification for hate-filled malcontents having access to weapons capable of murdering and maiming 29 people in less than 30 seconds. Responsible gun owners, lawmakers with moral courage and concerned citizens — patriots all, are stakeholders in ending this deadly situation.

If we do nothing — nothing will happen — except continued slaughter of the innocent.
