Three county men, two of them from Beaufort, were arrested and charged in connection with a kidnapping and assault that took place in Newport April 19. The arrests occurred between Thursday, April 25, and Monday.
Those charged include Terence Lee Jones, 28, of Beaufort; Thomas Wayne Willis, 41, of Beaufort; and Cade Russell Jones, 28, of Newport.
Detectives began investigating after one of the two victims, Shawn Marshall, 25, escaped from a home in Newport where he and Brittany Katen, 27, were bound with duct tape and held against their will.
Deputies say the incident occurred at the home of Dennis Franklin Graham at 264 Carl Garner Rd. in Newport during the early morning hours of April 19. The two victims were assaulted with a handgun, shotgun, and razor knife.
A statement released by authorities aid the incident occurred over money and narcotics the victims had allegedly stolen from the perpetrators.
Cade Jones, of 268 Old Winberry Rd, Newport, was charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of assault by pointing a gun and is being held on a one million dollar bond.
Terrance Jones, of 123 Gosling Ln, Beaufort, was charged with two counts of first degree kidnapping, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, one count of sexual battery and is being held on a $175,000.00 bond.
Willis, of 109 Earl Ave, Beaufort was charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and is being held on a $85,000.00 bond.
Detective Lt. Derek Moore, lead detective on the case, advised the incident is still under investigation. Additional arrests may be made.
