Godwin Gets Death Penalty For Murder of Wendy Tamagne

David Godwin has been sentenced to death for the murder of Wendy Tamagne.

Original Story: After hearing from 14 character witnesses over the past week, jurors from the Godwin capital murder trial went into sentencing deliberations just before noon Tuesday, April 23.


Godwin will be sentenced to either life in prison or the death penalty.

On April 12 the jury found David Godwin, 28, guilty of first-degree felony murder on all counts in the death of Wendy Tamagne.

Tamagne was found deceased by Morehead City police on July 4, 2016. She had been stabbed, strangled and dismembered.

The defense presented their client as a troubled person who struggled with mental illness, trauma and substance abuse issues
