On the Agenda: Oct. 14 Beaufort Board of Commissioners Meeting


The Beaufort Board of Commissioners holds its regular meeting on the second Monday of each month at 6 pm in the Train Depot at the corner of Broad and Pollock streets. The BOC takes public comment at the beginning of each meeting.

Meetings are streamed via the town’s Facebook page, and agendas are posted to the town website at least a week in advance.

Navigable Waters Text Amendment

The board will review and then vote on a text amendment to the town code that would prohibit the anchoring of any vessel within the town’s navigable waters during a hurricane warning with the exception of the Town Creek harbor of refuge. The town has had a problem with vessels breaking anchor during storms and causing damage to structures, shorelines and water quality. Read the full amendment


Boaters’ Experiences in Beaufort: Lessons Learned

Diane Tetreault, Beaufort Port Officer for the Ocean Cruising Club, will present information learned from nationwide and global boaters about their Beaufort experience.

  • Presentation: Introduction of new Beaufort Police Officers
  • Appointments: Peter Crumley and Liz DeMattia have asked to be reappointed to the Parks & Rec advisory board for three more years
  • Approval: Change BOC’s November regular meeting date from Tuesday, Nov. 12 to a new date.
