Share Your Florence Experience for Research!

November 13, 2019 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

How did Hurricane Florence affect you? Please join and let us know your experience!

On November 13th and 19th from 6:00-8:00 at the Beaufort Train Depot there will be community nights to document your experiences during Hurricane Florence. We are interested in learning about how people in Eastern Carteret County got access to specific types of resources (information, physical labor, emergency supplies, etc.) that helped with hurricane preparation (before) and recovery (after).  What resources were easily accessed (and from who) and what resources were difficult to access (and why)?

We are collecting this information in a research partnership with SeaGrant, Duke University, the Town of Beaufort, and the Core Sound Museum & Heritage Center to understand community networks and their role in disaster preparedness and response. Through this work, we hope to inform plans for future hurricane planning and preparedness. Light refreshments will be available.
