The NC Dept. of Transportation will pick up hurricane debris along state roads, a DOT spokesperson confirmed Friday.
Counties included in the pickup are: Carteret, Craven, Jones and Pamlico.
The department is currently working on a contract for the project, but tentatively expects pickup to begin the first week of November and continue through January.
FEMA declared several NC counties as major disaster areas and approved public assistance grants earlier this month that will cover most of the cost of debris collection.
